On the 11th, U.S. Customs and Border Protection announced that the federal government has decided to impose new regulations on electronic products such as smartphones, computers, and chips. These products will be exempt from the so-called reciprocal tariffs.
According to documents released by Customs and Border Protection, the newly imposed regulations mean that these electronic products will be excluded from the reciprocal tariffs that the U.S.government has placed on its trading partners. The new rules apply to electronic products entering the United States after April 5.
Additionally, the documents state that companies can apply for refunds of tariffs that have already been paid on these products.
The Bloomberg News Agency reported that this move could help ease price pressures for U.S. consumers, while also benefiting major electronics companies, including Apple and Samsung Electronics.
